It is hard to narrow down the impact that literature has on one's life.  So many authors out there and so many books!  I have narrowed it down to three Authors who have shaped who I am today

god and the bible:

I don't think anyone can deny his teachings in the bible are inspirational and stand the test of time towards shaping mankind in goodness and godliness

For those who exalt themselves will be humbled and those who humble themselves will be exalted

Ernest Hemingway

Ernest Hemingway was an author, an adventurer and above all else a man's man! his stories whisked me away to far off lands and enable you to experience far off civilizations.  My favorite book of his was Islands in the stream.  the main character chases german subs in his fishing boat down in the florida keys.

having lived in the keys for a large part of my life, I could see myself driving his boat the pilar and I could smell the salt air.  when you can't afford a vacation, just pick up a hemingway book.

Never Mistake motion for action

Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Saint-Ex as he is commonly known was a French author who lived 1900-1944. he was an aviator who helped pioneer airmail routes from France to their colonies in Africa and then across to south America.  his most famous book is the little prince and was made into a movie in the 1970's.

his books were beautifully written and used aviation as a canvas to convey his ideals and philosophies of man.

As a pacifist, he flew aerial reconnaissance missions in WWII for the Free French air force.  Ironically he was shot flying a P-38 Lightning on a photo reconnaissance mission in 1944 and killed by a german lufftwaffe pilot who after the war would find out that he had killed his favorite author.

The time for action is now, it is never too late to do something
